PLEASE READ AND SHARE

Don’t delay join your local club today &
Please share. We must get the word out.

NO MATTER HOW MUCH SNOW WE GET, SNOWMOBILE TRAILS ARE CLOSED UNTIL DECEMBER. PERIOD.

We have not had a start to winter like this in over a decade here in Upstate… and more snow events are coming. For us snow lovers and especially for snowmobilers it’s exciting to see things set up this early. We’ve always said “as November goes so goes winter…” but there is a big downside to a big snowy November:

NYS Snowmobile Trails are CLOSED until:
1. Hunting Seasons End! (See Map)
2. All clubs have signed trails and have had sufficient help from volunteers to prepare said trails, fix bridges, clear debris, etc…
3. Landowners (especially farmers) get their crops and livestock off the fields and open gates that go through their land… landowners timeline NOT ours.
4. Each individual snowmobile club independently determines that all gates are opened by landowners, trails are clear and safe to ride, then “officially” declare them to be open.

Snowmobiling has gone through a period of great disrespect recently. So many have ridden on closed trails, flipped off landowners, caused property damage and otherwise have treated snowmobiling and the trail system as a right and not a PRIVILEGE. Clubs have had to deal with so much to keep trails open, reroute trails and otherwise convince landowners that those few don’t represent all of snowmobiling.

Our fear is that all this snow coming so early, is going to send a bunch of folks out riding, despite closed trails and hunting seasons. WE STILL HAVE 20 DAYS MINIMUM IN NORTHERN ZONE (ADKs/Tug Hill/North Country) AND 35 DAYS MINIMUM IN SOUTHERN ZONE (Rest of Upstate) before the earliest possible opening of trails, as determined by each local club.

We beg you to spread the word… unless you are riding on YOUR PRIVATE PROPERTY… or ON PRIVATE LAND OF A FAMILY MEMBER/FRIEND WITH THEIR EXPRESS WRITTEN PERMISSION…

PLEASE DO NOT RIDE YET. PLEASE.

With what could be a big and long winter coming, we don’t want to ruin it before the snowmobiling season even starts.

We will do our part to inform you of the weather. It’s a big part of what we do.

Please do your part by respecting laws, landowners and each other.

Not just with regards to snowmobiling but in life in general, treat others the way you want to be treated.

If you feel you can do what you want, when and where you want, and have the right to flip off and curse people whom try to stop you, please unfollow us. We don’t want to be associated with you.

That’s not who we are. We love winter, love landowners, love snowmobile clubs and the volunteers that make it happen. To the vast majority that support us in this: THANK YOU.
